Oliveira de Azeméis

Coordinates:40.8387294, -8.4769763

Oliveira de Azeméis is a land of rivers, mills, ancient arts and knowledge. It’s therefore not surprising to come across ancient heritage sites such as crosses, pillories, medieval bridges of Roman origin and a Benedictine monastery built before we were a nation.

The route enters the municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis through the parish of Vila de Cucujães, a land of friars, manor houses, palaces and Roman remains. The route through Terras de La Salette ends in the parish of Pinheiro da Bemposta, now the extinct municipality of Bemposta, where several centuries later there are plenty of signs of the wealth and grandeur that once existed.
